WHAT PARTICIPANTS SAY

“Would I join again? Definitely!”

Rated 5 out of 5 stars.

  • It was excellent for adult beginners. Great to learn and play together with fellow violinists. Julia has created us a big family and we all had a good time to expend our friendship, skill and knowledge. Mother and daughter team gave us welcoming and encouraging us how to play Solo and Group repertoires. All activities plus Tony Peregoy's barn dances gave us another level of learning and community spirit. Violin Villa is lovely venue and comfortable room and great foods. We all had a great time in Utrecht and Amsterdam after Violin Villa 2022. Thankyou to Julia, Sacha, Ineke, Peet, Rod, JVA team, the chef and all my fellow violinists! I had a great time in Europe too.

  • Violin Villa 2022 was, for me, a challenging experience facilitated by people who were both caring and very competent. I recommend it for both beginning and intermediate players. Ancillary activities encouraged participants to connect with one another and have fun when not engaged in serious violin learning.

  • Violin Villa was an amazing experience. The way the group was brought together and all experience levels were combined in a good variation of group pieces was done very well. The private sessions with Julia and pianist Ineke were helpful, and their enthusiastic teaching for the whole group was motivating and inspiring. It was a joy to be together with such a supportive group of fellow violinists. And also the support of Sascha and friend was nice, they arranged good food for all of us! If I get another chance to be part of Violin Villa again I'd do it for sure!

  • Attending the Violin Villa was an unforgettable experience. Julia has brought together a community of student violinists from all over the world to meet and play for a week that passed far too quickly.
The days were filled with a mix of group classes and workshops tailored to all skill levels, with breaks for terrific meals and an excursion to a windmill for a taste of the Netherlands.
Private lessons from Julia and Ineke really elevated everyone's playing and the final group and solo performances showcased how far everyone has come.
The atmosphere and community at the villa is truly something special, with a fun and positive group of students and teachers that brought out the best in each other. It was very hard to leave the villa when the week was done, and I hope to return in the coming years.

  • A beautiful memory for life. Julia and her helping heroes welcomed us all, and treated us as family.
Brilliant group classes for students from beginner level to more advanced fit together. Private class with both Julia and Ineke the accompanist for our solo piece performances was a great experience and helped correct our playing and set a guideline for future practices. We have made good friends from all over the world, and the group was so supportive of each other and we had lots of fun. I am myself a student at the academy, and am so happy I went. I have learned much, and really got to challenge my stage fright and had fun and was exited doing my solo piece.
Would I join again? Definitely! ..just need a week of rest first. Julia, Ineke, Sascha and the other person, I sadly don't remember the name of right now, went out of their way to see that everyone had a good time. I can't see that they could had done anything more. I give them a 10 out of 10.

  • Final Recital (participation optional, though recommended)
  • Evening activities

Which pieces will I be practicing?

In your private sessions you will be working on a personal piece of your choice, either with the violin teacher or your accompanist (Ineke). You will get support you with choosing a suitable solo piece after booking.

During group classes we will work on our group pieces that will be voted for & revealed closer to camp date.

What if I have specific dietary requirements?

We accommodate all dietary restrictions and allergies. Please be sure to let us know in advance so the chef is aware of your needs and can provide delicious meals that meet your personal needs.

What should I bring?

Upon acceptance to the camp we will provide you with a full packing list!

Can I bring my partner / family along?

This depends on the number of attendees. Please let us know if you would like to bring someone by sending an e-mail to support@violinspiration.com and we will let you know exactly what is possible. Probably it won’t be possible to bring younger kids as there is no supervision during class hours.

Do I need to book my own flights / train tickets?

Yes, your flights or train tickets are not included in the price. You will need to book flights to the airport in Amsterdam, Eindhoven (both in the Netherlands), or Duseldorf (Germany) or tickets to the train station Horst-Sevenum in the Netherlands. We recommend Kiwi for booking flights. If you need any help with this, contact support@violinspiration.com directly after booking and we will help you out.

Do I have to perform at the final recital?

No, in case you don’t want to perform you can opt-out. In that case you will still be working on a personal piece during your private sessions with the violin teacher and the accompanist. However, we encourage everyone to try performing, as it’s a great learning experience. We have found that in the beginning of camps like these, nobody will feel like performing, but after one week of practicing, encouraging together and making new friends, you might eventually want to try it anyway…

My flight doesn’t let me bring my violin, what can I do?

We have a limited amount of rental violins available for the duration of the camp. However, we still advise you to take your own violin if you have the chance to, as it often takes an adjustment period to get used to a new violin.

How will I get to the location?

We can pick you up from the train station (pick-up fee is 15€, there may be a little waiting time included if other attendees arrive at a similar time) or you can go by a bus or taxi (10 minuted ride to the closest train station or 30 min to the closest airport). We’ll send you detailed instructions upon acceptance to the camp.

Can I share a room with a friend?

Sure! Let us know in your application who you’d like to share a room with and we’ll place you together!

Do I need a VISA?

That depends on your nationality and passport. If you’re an EU citizen you won’t need a visa to travel to the Netherlands. If you are from the USA or Canada and didn’t travel to Europe this year yet, you can stay in the Netherlands for 90 days. Please make sure you research the visa requirements for your passport and situation well before you plan to travel. To research visa requirements we recommend VisaHQ.

What is your refund policy?

If for some reason you can’t make it, you can cancel your ticket by simply sending an email to support@violinspiration.com The following conditions apply to cancellations and booking changes for the trip:

  • 90 Days: €295 is held as cancellation fee
  • 90 – 30 Days: 75% of your ticket price is held as cancellation
  • 30 – 0 Days: 100% of your ticket price is held as cancellation

Due to the planning and nature of this event, we unfortunately can not offer any full refunds.
